What's the Point?
Every year some of the brightest, most driven and optimistic undergraduates from top colleges and universities consider law school. As they prepare to apply, enter the work force and embark on their legal career, at some point along the way, many of these motivated individuals become disillusioned, frustrated and stressed about their job. What is my next step? Should I go to change my practice area? Should I try to get a job at X law firm?
The primary goal of jdOasis.com is to help educate young legal professionals and students as they approach critical career decisions while simultaneously providing an outlet that can make them laugh. It is a place where legal professionals can come to learn more about other related fields, network with other users and even apply to specific jobs that interest them.
Looking for advice? Need to rant or rave? Share your horror stories? Want to give some survival tips? Check out our forums. Looking for a job? Post your resume here or browse our jobs here.
Whether you're a young fresh-eyed chimp or an old embittered ape, we hope you find solace here at the Oasis!
The History.
jdOasis.com was (re)launched in July 2012 as a sister site to WallStreetOasis.com ("WSO"). WSO has become the go-to resource when trying to break into Wall Street and financial related fields and is a very active community with over 4 million pageviews per month. We felt that a similar type of community was needed for the legal minded students and professionals out there so they could also make informed decisions -- from law school to law firm and beyond.
The Team.
Patrick Curtis, Founder and CEO
Hey fellow primates! So a bit about me....I recently graduated with an MBA in entrepreneurial management from The Wharton School of Business in 2010. While at Wharton, I was actively involved in the entrepreneurial community, with Wall Street Oasis selected into the Venture Initiation Program in 2008 and awarded the Wharton Venture Award in 2009. My experience includes two years in investment banking (restructuring group at Rothschild) and four years in private equity (Tailwind Capital) making investments in the healthcare and business service industries. In my spare time I enjoy playing poker, watching any Boston sports team and traveling abroad. You can drop me an e-mail at Patrick at jdoasis.com, or send me a private message on JDO (username is jdoasis) or connect with me on Linked In.
