I've had a couple friends
I've had a couple friends mention using either Xanax for anxiety or Adderall to help them get through it. Don't do Xanax, it has the potential to make you not give a shit enough to where you're not finishing sections nearly fast enough. Adderall works, you just can't get caught up on one problem.

I've taken them - they don't nearly as well as Xanax. They basically keep your blood pressure low, etc. to avoid the effects of anxiety. Give them a try. My understanding is they don't really have an effect on your cognitive function.
I've heard stories of people
I've heard stories of people taking the SAT on LSD. But, that might be a case where one acronym cancels out another.
I will not say I have or have
I will not say I have or have not tried acid, but if I were to have tried acid, I'd say the people taking the SAT on it is pretty retarded.
I know Xanax isn't a beta blocker, just figured I'd weigh in. Taking a 20 XR addy will make you focus, which for me also means reduced stress.

What a badass. Although I can't say I'd want to go out tripping balls... maybe smoke a bowl or something?

I recently began using the beta blockers that were given to me for public speaking (presentations, etc). On one of my first tests in my masters program, I didn't do so well. I freaked out a bit on that test and couldn't get my mind straight. It was an accounting test, and if anyone has taken one of those, you know what I mean. Anyway, I take one before every test and it helps tremendously. The best way I can explain the effect is that I feel mellow, relaxed, and sometimes almost even tired. It usually induces yawning in me about an hour after taking it. I've never taken Xanax, beta blockers aren't something people try to abuse. It doesn't really do anything for you other than lower your heart rate so that you can focus better.
I remember the first time I took one for a presentation, I was sure it wouldn't work/help. I was shaking and sweating all day before the presentation. I finally took it, and I stopped sweating and shaking. I also didn't worry as much about it. I felt in control.
